Prerequisites
Installing in Eclipse 3.4.xCreate a new update site via Help > Software Updates In the dialog that pops up, select the Available Software tab and click the Add Site... button. In the Location, enter the URL, http://www.jirabuddy.com/update_1.0.x, and press the OK button. Expand the http://www.jirabuddy.com/update_1.0.x tree and select the latest version of the JiraBuddy Feature, then press the Install... button. NOTE: After pressing the Install... button, Eclipse will calculate the requirements and dependencies needed to run JiraBuddy. It may take a few minutes for this operation to complete, so please be patient. You can monitor the status of the requirement and dependency installation in the Eclipse task bar located on the lower-right corner of Eclipse. After the requirements and dependencies are installed, make sure the JiraBuddy Feature is selected and press the Next button. Agree to the license and press the Finish button. Once JiraBuddy is installed, you will be prompted to restart Eclipse, select Yes to restart. After the workbench restarts, JiraBuddy should now be installed and enabled by default. You can verify the installation by going to Help > About Eclipse Platform and clicking on the Feature Details button. The dialog should have an entry for PuguaSoft and the JiraBuddy Plug-in feature. If you don't see an for the JiraBuddy plug-in or you're having problems installing the plug-in, please contact development [at] jirabuddy.com Installing in Eclipse 3.3.xNOTE: JiraBuddy "works" for
Eclipse 3.3/Europa, however not all features are supported or works
properly since JiraBuddy 1.0.0+ was built against Eclipse
3.4/Ganymede. For the most part, installation in Eclipse 3.3.x is very similar to Eclipse 3.4.x. Some dialogs, screens, and menus for Software Updates may be a little different, but you should still be able to follow the steps in Installing in Eclipse 3.4.x to get JiraBuddy working in Eclipse 3.3.x. SetupConfigure the JiraBuddy plug-in via Window > Preferences... > JiraBuddy menu. Be sure to setup the Connection preference by entering the apropriate credentials to connect to your Jira server. Press the Test Connection to test the connection to your JIRA server. If you get an error or Java exception, please refer to the FAQ page. If you want to enable the Hover feature, then configure the Hovers preferences. In the Hovers preference page under the General tab, make sure Select to enable JiraBuddy's Hover feature is checked. Under the Information tab, check the JIRA issue information you would like to appear in the hover tooltip. Under the Project Keys tab, enter the unique JIRA keys for the projects you wish to enable the Hover feature. For example, if you have a JIRA project JiraBuddy with the key JRABDY, add JRABDY to the Project Keys preference. |
